New York State Route 34 (NY 34) is a north–south New York state route located in Central New York. Its southern terminus is at the Pennsylvania state line in the village of Waverly, where it connects to Pennsylvania Route 199 and meets Interstate 86 (I-86). Its northern terminus is at NY 104, outside the village of Hannibal. Route description Tioga and Chemung counties The highway begins at exit 61 of the Southern Tier Expressway, I-86/ NY 17, where PA 199 crosses into New York state, and Tioga County, on Cayuta Avenue in Waverly. Little more than half a mile into the state, Cayuta Street (NY 34) comes to a T-intersection with NY 17C. NY 34 makes a sharp left and, shortly thereafter, a sharp right turn. Waverly, Tioga County, New York
Waverly is the largest village in Tioga County, New York, United States. As of the 2010 U.S. census, Waverly had a population of 4,177. It is located southeast of Elmira in the Southern Tier region. This village was incorporated as the southwest part of the town of Barton in 1854. The village name was conceived by Joseph "Uncle Joe" Hallett, founder of its first Fire Department and pillar of the community, dropping the second "e" from the name of his favorite author's novel, '' Waverley'' by Sir Walter Scott. Treman State Park
Robert H. Treman State Park is a state park located in Tompkins County, in the Finger Lakes region of New York in the United States. The park is situated in the towns of Ithaca, Enfield and Newfield. History Robert H. Treman first purchased land surrounding Enfield Falls in 1915, and worked to improve the property by planting over 1,000 trees. He and his wife, Laura Treman (Hosie), donated the land to New York State in 1920 for the establishment of Enfield Glen State Park. The park was renamed in Robert H. Treman's honor following his death in 1937. The Enfield Falls Mill and Miller's House was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. Van Etten (village), New York
Van Etten is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) within the town of Van Etten in Chemung County, New York, United States. It is a former village that was absorbed by the town of Van Etten on December 31, 2018. The name came from the two brothers who founded the village. As of the 2020 census, the CDP had a population of 601. The community is northeast of Elmira and is part of the Elmira Metropolitan Statistical Area. History The community was founded around 1798 by James and Joshua Van Etten. Previously called "Halls Corners", at first the community was called "Van Ettenville", but was incorporated in 1876 as "Van Etten". The first railroad line arrived in 1871. New York State Route 17C (NY 17C) is a state highway in the Southern Tier of New York in the United States. Its western terminus is at an intersection with NY 34 in Waverly, Tioga County while its eastern terminus is at an intersection with U.S. Route 11 (US 11) in Binghamton, Broome County.
